We decided to bite the bullet and go for a hand-made kitchen made by local craftsman. Due to cost we managed to restrain ourselves (well restrain Tania actually) and only ordered a couple of pieces and a Belfast sink. We can add to it later when we’ve saved up some more pennies!
We bought it unfinished also to keep the cost down. Basically all we need to do is add a primer coat and then finish off with a Farrow and Ball traditional colour and we should be good.
The carcasses are made from Birch ply with the frame and drawers made from American Red Oak. We went for the oak as when it’s painted the grain gives the finish some texture.
