Wow .. what a day yesterday. The guys turned up to pour the concreted screed for the floors and in 3 hrs they were complete and gone! Amazing stuff.
After what seemed like an eternity we finally were ready for the floors. Because we are using underfloor heating there’s a great deal of prep to be done before you can start pouring what is essentially liquid concrete into a wooden structure.
First the entire ground floor perimiter has to be sealed or you’ll have concrete dissapearing into your neighbours fish pond … then the ufh has to be pressure tested for leaks. That’s the stressfull part .. if you don’t get that right then there is a good chance your nice new floor will show signs of damp! to say the least.
Another advantage with using liquid screed is it drys super fast. 12 hrs later and we will be walking on it which is great given we have so much to do inside the house.
Anyway … all worked out in the end and we have a level and stable floor.
