Well it’s all started .. the diggers arrived on Monday morning and made short work of knocking down the bungalow as you can see. It would have been down in a day but for the digger breaking down. Anyway we’re well on the way now and the Groundworks (foundations and floors) will start in around 2 weeks.
So much to organise including mobile toilets for the workers, order the beam and block flooring (quicker to lay than conventional layered concrete floors) and keep the refreshments coming for the workers.
T has assumed the role of Site Manager is doing a great job! All the wood, metal, hardcore and plastic has been sorted into seperate piles and will be recycled .. some for the new build and the rest going to the local recycle centre.
Of course who can resist the lure of a good bonfire! .. much of the wood from the bungalow was unuseable so we ended up burning it. Not very eco I know but we’ll make up for it in the efficiencies inside the new house.
We’re now in the mobile home having managed to lay on water, sanitation, electricity and gas. We’re quite comfortable but oh how we miss the central heating.
More to follow.
