We’ve both had an ambition to buy a field and plant it completely with cut flowers. Not sure what we’d do with them all, other than sell them I guess, but the bugs and wildlife would love it! … not forgetting all that perfume and wonderful colors. We can all dream … but until then we’re going to create our very own scented cut flower garden at Fieldview.
Step one is to mark out a space and then spend some quality time preparing the ground ready for planting next Spring. We decided the best place would be alongside the polytunnel so the plants will benefit from any heat generated by the plastic.
As you can see T first ran a line and then marked out with an edging iron.
Several hours later we’d cleared the ground and turned in a load of well rotted horse manure. Each plot is approximately 12 feet 9 and should enable us to grow enough fresh cut flowers for the new house right through next summer!
We’ll keep you posted on how it all comes together in the coming months but we really excited about this project.
